The project Empty Slogans explores the possibilities and the limitations of protest signs as moments of resistance. It opens typographic research of Hebrew and Arabic written statements on protest-signs during demonstrations in Tel Aviv.
The idea is to collect, archive, and make visible the slogans and statements produced for social change. The deconstruction of text, graphics and spaces opens up new links and configurations enabling visual spaces of communication. The alternative voices circulate, transform, and create hybrid interpretive contexts for viewers. The graphics were projected in Berlin and Düsseldorf and served as the basis for engaging with people and discussing politics and society.
