Unwanted Repetition

I am from Umm al-Fahm and live in Jerusalem documenting what I observe and feel in my every-day life. One of the reasons I chose the medium of photography is that I want to make visible the complex reality of the current situation of Palestinian society. My goal, and constant effort, is to revive the essence of photography by taking pictures of people’s lives in an attempt at identifying social challenges. The series of works in this project intend to give a broad view of the confrontation and the grievances of Palestinian citizens and the people in general. To do this I went to places in Palestine that are worth exploring and are complex from a socio-political point of view. The images were taken in, among other places, Shuafat refugee camp, Al-Isawiya, Umm al-Fahm, and Bethlehem.

And the writings are drawn from my inner feelings about pressing the button on the camera and keeping a snapshot of time through the light and hope.
